For today's analysis we have one of the manufacturer's most complete mid-tower chassis. Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F is the new evolution of the well-known Matrexx 50 that brings us a lot of tempered glass outside and inside. A complete cooling setup with A-RGB lighting and many details that make mounting and dismounting internal hardware easy, along with E-ATX support. Definitely an attractive option for the mid and even high range due to its excellent construction and presentation.

We will see all this right now, but not before thanking Deepcool for their trust in us when they gave us this chassis for their complete analysis.

Unboxing

We start as always with the Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F Unboxing, a considerably large chassis, although still not exceeding 50 cm. For this reason we have a neutral cardboard box with a sketch of the tower that does not really weigh too much, we are talking about 10.31 Kg in the complete bundle.

Inside, we simply find the chassis tucked between two molds of expanded polystyrene and in turn in a plastic bag to safeguard glass and vertices from impact.

The rest of the accessories we have inside the chassis itself, so we should all have the following:

After taking everything out of the box, we are ready to thoroughly analyze its exterior design, in which we will see some interesting details that differentiate it from the rest. This chassis is, so to speak, a more advanced version of the Matrexx 50, certainly very similar, but larger and more capable. Undoubtedly a range highly acclaimed by modders and gamers for its excellent quality / price ratio.

We then have a chassis with relatively wide measurements of 484 mm deep, 492 mm high and 228 mm wide. We did not reach those 50 cm that are almost part of the full tower chassis, but rest assured that the width and capacity are assured. Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F uses SPCC steel for the inner and outer chassis. While we do have a lot of tempered glass and quite a bit of ABS plastic, which is good news. The weight of about 8.89 Kg is quite tight considering that it is a robust chassis, although its handling is better this way.

Starting from the left side, we find a tempered glass plate that completely covers this entire area. It does not have any darkened, and is fastened by two screws in the upper area. When removed, the glass will remain attached to the lower metal edge that is part of the chassis. Interesting security element and intelligent disassembly system.

In the area closest to the front, we have an opening provided with a dust filter for the air intake. But the innermost part is in the upper corner, a button that when pressed allows us to remove the front glass panel.

In fact, the front of the Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F is apparently a full tempered glass casing held in place by the chassis's only ABS plastic area. Thanks to the button, we will remove only the glass, to be able to work on the fans.

But if we put our hand under the plastic, we can also completely remove the entire front. Thus we will see fully exposed the three pre-installed 140 mm A-RGB fans from the factory. The frame that holds them, we can also remove it by loosening the screws that hold it to the sides. In this way the entire system is modular and completely removable.

Already located in the upper area, the manufacturer has put aside the huge opening for ventilation in the area. All of it is provided with a medium grain magnetic dust filter. Supporting up to 3 140mm fans in this part or Liquid AIO, it is shaping up to be a great chassis for enthusiastic setups.

And in the space that is next to all this huge open hole, we have the I / O panel composed of the following ports and buttons:

We can only miss a USB Type-C port to complete the configuration. Many current boards, especially the new X570s, have internal connectors for all three types of USB available, which is great news.

The right side area of Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F, the truth is that it does not have anything too remarkable. Or maybe yes, because the disassembly system of this glossy black painted sheet is exactly the same as the glass panel. By removing two thumb screws from the top, the sheet will remain attached to the bottom for added security.

It is an original idea to implement the system in both parts, although I think that a couple of screws behind would be more discreet here. In any case, it is an effort of the brand to differentiate itself and bring something new, so great work.

The rear area is composed of a pre-installed 120mm fan, and a capacity of 7 + 2 slots. We refer to "+ 2" to see that we can install vertical GPUs if we remove the protective plate that is to the right of the horizontal ones. In such a case, a GPU up to 40 or 45mm thick will be supported for up to 2.5 slots.

For the rest, we do not have a removable frame for the PSU, so we will have to put it on the right side as it has always been done.

We finish with the lower area, where we also find a huge opening that occupies the entire length of the box. Cold air will enter through it through natural convection, and for this reason an excellent fine-grained dust filter has been installed. It is removable by sliding on two side rails, so we appreciate great general quality throughout the exterior area. Good work of Deepcool, yes sir.

Interior and assembly

It is time to go inside the Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F , to see if the work done on the outside corresponds to that on the inside. And the truth is that the presentation is not bad, with the three traditional departments, very clean in aesthetics and the odd interesting detail.

First of all, we have an opening wide enough to work on the CPU without the need to uninstall the board. This is accompanied by a total of 8 openings to put cables from the rear compartment to the main one. None of them have protective rubbers, and this would have been the icing on the cake, too bad.

Most interestingly, we have it in the cover for the PSU, since we have a tempered glass panel that covers the entire area and that we can easily remove using a manual thread screw. It is the first manufacturer to introduce tempered glass in this area, and everything has an explanation. And it is that we have on the side a pre-installed A-RGB LED strip that will give us a nice visual detail both outside and inside the chassis.

And it is not all, since we can also remove this side panel and even the hard drive cabinet to leave the chassis completely free. With this HDD cabinet installed, we will have space for standard ATX sources 200 mm long, and if we remove it, we will increase it as we please.

As for hardware compatibility, we have room for Mini ITX, Micro ATX, ATX and E-ATX motherboards, the full range thankfully. If we choose to install a dedicated GPU, Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F supports a length of 380mm for horizontal configuration and 360mm for vertical configuration. Finally we will be able to install CPU coolers up to 170 mm high, so maximum compatibility with the entire hardware market.

In the rear area we have a space available for 30 mm cable management, although without any advanced cable routing system. This means that we will have to manage as we can so that everything is fairly decent. Space at least there is, and enough to be a fairly wide chassis.

Storage capacity

We focus a little more on the storage of this Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F chassis than the truth, it is very intuitive and easy to identify the areas intended for it.

We will start with the most obvious, which is the cabinet with two bays for 3.5 or 2.5-inch hard drives, as it offers full compatibility. This wardrobe is quite robust, and has two removable trays if we remove the screw that holds them. Best of all, we also have anti-vibration rubbers for mechanical hard drives.

If we now go to the back of the motherboard, we will find two removable brackets installed there to install 2.5-inch drives or SSDs. And if we move to the front area again, also on this back plate, then we have two holes available for 2.5-inch units. In the latter case, they will be directly screwed into the sheet metal.

So in total we will have space for two 3.5-inch HDDs, and up to 6 2.5-inch SSDs, 4 of them exclusive for this size.

Refrigeration

The next section of interest for a gamer is the cooling one, and here the Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F It has a lot to say for your benefit. Starting with its capacity for fans we have:

Exactly everything we can ask for, with a maximum capacity of 7 fans of which we already have 4 pre-installed. Three of them are 140mm and have A-RGB lighting included. The one in the back is normal and current of 120 mm.

As for details to comment, because you see that we have in the interior area the corresponding medium-grain dust filter that will protect the interior of the chassis from the thicker dust specks. Remember that also on the front itself we have more filters of this type. As a base, we already have excellent cooling, with a good air flow facilitated by the enormous upper opening to naturally expel hot air.

Similarly, we will need the splitter to connect all the fans, unless we do it directly on board to manage them independently. All offer PWM control of your motor, and the panel where they are installed is removable. The problem with this connection system for the fans is that we have a huge amount of cables spread out behind. And to this we must add the RGB headers, which at least are all connected to each other.

Another section that will be of interest to users is the lighting of the Deepcool Matrexx 70 ADD-RGB 3F. It will not be too technical a section, since we only have a very small microcontroller with two fixed connections for lighting strip and fans, and a 5V DC input for power.

The first of the illuminated areas, we have it located on the side cover of the power supply. This is a normal and ordinary strip that will be compatible with motherboards that have a 4-pin (3 effective) A-RGB header with its own lighting technologies such as those from Asus AURA, MSI Mystic Might, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and ASRock Polychrome RGB. And the second zone, because it will simply be the fans.

For your control we have a button on the I / O panel that gives us a few predefined animations. We already warned that they will not be as many as for example those of the NOX chassis, where lately they are doing a great job. Installation and assembly

Now we are going straight to the assembly of our example bench, which is made up of the following elements:

During this assembly, you will notice that all the I / O panel connections are fairly exposed. So we invite you to be careful while handling the external USB cables and those of the assembly, since we could have some problem. I think it would have been a good idea to put at least a small plastic box to store them.

The assembly process is always the same. We always recommend starting with the power supply, so we can throw all the cables we need for board, GPU and hard drives. The next thing to install will be precisely the hard drives. So that later the cables do not bother us and we are clear on where we are going to place them.

Finally we put a plate and connect everything. We see that there are more than enough holes to pull cables, and also the one we use for the GPU is quite hidden. The result is excellent, very well hidden cables and more than enough space behind to pull enough cables. Of course, all quite poorly placed as they do not have a routing system.

With this we come to the lighting, which is practically the same as we had in the Deepcool Matrexx 55. In this case , an internal LED strip is added to the PSU cover that increases the beauty of this chassis in action. We can connect it to the board thanks to the included cables.

An improvement aspect may be the fact of not having a PWM controller for the fans, and thus integrate lighting and ventilation as other manufacturers do. The result is a compartment with tons of messy cables, a big space, but very basic. RGB animations are also sparse, although they are controlled by a top button.

Finally we must talk about price, since the chassis will be available for a range of between 84 to 105 euros approximately depending on which store we choose to buy the product. Considering the build quality and the good details it includes, we see it as a great option for modding and gaming.
