After several delays, Dell is finally ready to launch the OLED- display version of its XPS 15 laptop. The initial launch target was for March. This was deferred until May and finally until June. After which, it was unclear to us whether the laptop would end up coming out or not. Finally, Dell confirmed for Forbes that the product ended up coming out on June 27.

Dell XPS 15 7590 with 4K OLED display arrives on June 27

The OLED panel will have a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 and features 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage. Additionally, the laptop is Dolby Vision certified and promises up to 40 times brighter and up to 10 times better blacks than the typical IPS panel.

Having an OLED panel should also theoretically provide better battery life than an IPS display. This is because an OLED screen can disable pixels when blacks are displayed, which theoretically consumes less power, therein lies the big advantage.
