Directx 12 runs amd and nvidia together

Anonim

It has been rumored for a long time but now we finally have the proof that the new API DirectX 12 allows graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia to work together, something that we could call CrossSLI and that would have seemed an aberration until now.

DirectX 12 is a highly anticipated API for working at a level much closer to hardware than DirectX 11 does, this translates into a substantial improvement in the use of resources and as we now see the possibility of combining an AMD GPU next to one of Nvidia on the same system.

The guys at Anandtech have used the "Ashes of the Singularity" benchmark to test the combination of an AMD Radeon R9 Fury X and a GeForce GTX 980Ti with surprising results.

Yes, the experiment has worked showing a performance increase of approximately 50% compared to the use of a single card. A lower figure than that obtained with an SLI or a Crossfire but it is somewhat remarkable considering that there is no optimization of drivers by means of profiles or anything.

In addition, the improvement varies slightly depending on whether we put one or another card as primary, the combination with better performance is to put the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X as primary and the GeForce GTX 980Ti as secondary.
