Directx 12 improves performance by up to 50%
Phil Spencer from Microsoft has spoken about the company's new API, DirectX 12, and how it can change the development of video games for PC, Xbox One and mobile platforms.
The new DirectX12 API will give developers more control over the GPU and the CPU, allowing video games to be much more optimized and the performance increase compared to the current DirectX 11 can be up to 50%.
In addition, DirectX 12 will be of great importance on mobile platforms since it will reduce energy consumption by approximately half, allowing a longer battery life for the device.
No doubt Microsoft is working hard to make Windows 10 much more popular than Windows 8 has been, offering to upgrade to Windows 10 for free will go a long way towards rapid adoption of the new Redmond operating system, the benefits of DirectX. 12 can also attract a large number of players to the new operating system.
