A drone in the best origami style has been attracting attention since the beginning of the month, when it was presented at CEATEC, a technology fair held in Japan. Named Orizuru, the remote-controlled vehicle is the brainchild of Lapis Semiconductor, a subsidiary of a Japanese brand called Rohm Semiconductor. The manufacturer now wants to work with new companies to put the product for sale, which means that there is no set price for Spain or abroad.

Despite its length of 70 cm - much greater than 35 cm 2 Phantom - the body is extremely light. The entire structure weighs 31 grams, less than half the weight of a GoPro. The gadget also lacks Wi-Fi. In other words: The Orizuru is not designed to carry devices, but to replicate the realistic movement of a bird's flight.

The lightness of the drone is due to the fact that it has a skeleton with nylon filaments, 3D printing, and a paper finish. The technology that is powered is the Lazurite Fly, a micro-computer designed by Lapis. The device is the size of an SD card and, according to the company, 90% more efficient than its competitors like the Arduino.

Its design was developed in collaboration with Tyoukogata Hikoutai Lab, specialized in drones. The project took three months to obtain the final result. When entrepreneurs found partners, Rohm immediately intended to open the code to enthusiasts and developers in order to create his own Orizuru.
