ECS LIVA Q technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
ECS LIVA Q comes with an excellent presentation, this mini PC is offered inside a colorful cardboard box with the brand's corporate design. On the front we see a high quality image while on the back its most important specifications are detailed in several languages, including Spanish.
Once we open the box we find the ECS LIVA Q perfectly accommodated and protected so that it does not suffer any mishaps during transport. In addition to the mini PC we find the following elements:
- 1 x Power Adapter 1 x VESA Mount 6 x VESA Mounting Screws Quick Guide and Driver DVD
We already focus our eyes on the ECS LIVA Q and we see that it is a very compact device, its measurements barely reach 70 x 70 x 31.4 mm with a weight of 260 grams.
Its manufacture is based on the use of good quality black plastic, something that allows its weight to be very light indeed. At the top we see the logo of the brand in orange.
Anti-slip rubber feet have been placed at the bottom to keep it more stable on our table.
We review their connections and we find a Gigabit Ethernet port, a USB 3.1 port, a USB 2.0 port and an HDMI 2.0 port. It also includes a slot for microSD memory cards up to 128 GB.
Once we have seen the exterior, we begin to look inside the ECS LIVA Q. The first thing that stands out is the presence of a processor from the Apollo Lake series, manufactured at 14 nm and with great energy efficiency, making the cooling totally passive. Thanks to this, the equipment does not make any noise during its operation. Two versions are offered with the Pentium N4200 and Celeron N3350 processors. In our ECS he has sent us the Celeron model, which is the cheapest and possibly has the most sales.
To accompany these processors we can choose between 2 and 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, we recommend going for the 4 GB model (like this one) so that applications can work more comfortably, since today 2 GB is very little.
Now we go to internal storage, we have opted for eMMC 5.1 technology that offers a very good balance between cost and speed, it is not as fast as an SSD but it is more than enough for this type of device, more if it is of good quality. We can choose between 32 GB and 64 GB.
Wireless connectivity is very important in a mini PC, that's why the ECS LIVA Q opts for an Intel WiFi 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.1 module that will allow you to navigate at full speed and use all kinds of peripherals without the hassle of cables.
We have to talk about the software and that is that the ECS LIVA Q is compatible with the Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit operating systems, thanks to which the user will be able to choose the one that most interests them and best suits their needs.
Finally, it is compatible with the VESA 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 mounting standard, thanks to which we can put it on the wall or behind our monitor so that it does not hinder us in the least. For its operation, a 12V and 2A power adapter is attached, which gives a total power of 24W.
Performance tests (Benchmark)
It is a fairly modest team, since the Intel Celeron is designed for basic use of Windows 10 and office suite. It is true that depending on what we see on YouTube, it may have more or less difficulty of reproduction, but 96% of the content reproduces it without any problem.
We have passed some pretty cool performance tests: Cinebench, AIDA 64, CPU-Z, and ATTO. To check the actual performance of both the processor, memory and storage chosen by the ECS company. We show you the results:
Undoubtedly one of its strongest points is temperatures and consumption., We have obtained at rest 47 ºC and 7.7 W while at maximum power we have reached 67 ºC and 8.8 W. A team that offers a lot for so little electricity consumption.
Final words and conclusion about ECS LIVA Q
The ECS LIVA Q hits the market to offer Mini PC equipment that fits in the palm of one hand. Although their characteristics are not spectacular, they are much better than similar Chinese teams. It has an Intel N3350 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory and Windows 10 operating system.
In our tests it has performed quite well in office automation and internet browsing software. Its price is quite tempting since it is for $ 200 in the US. Although we do not know when it will arrive in Spain.
