Asus has caught the world's attention with its Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX 701 laptop. This gaming laptop stands out above the rest for its screen, with a refresh rate of 300 Hz, which Asus considers the fastest in the world. The laptop will go on sale in October, and Strix-branded models will do so in 2020. Prices were not announced at the time of writing.

Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 bets on a super-fast screen

The GX701 is a laptop with a 17-inch screen, although there is also another 15-inch GX502 model that also has a 300 Hz screen. Other specifications weren't immediately announced, and the company focused solely on the differentiating element, which is 300 Hz.

These screens are set to be the weapon of choice for eSports gamers, although they may have to sacrifice certain in-game adjustments to reach 300 frames per second, so a very powerful GPU will be needed. At IFA, Asus prototypes the new panel on the 15- and 17-inch ROG Strix Scar II, both with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card.

Beyond the 300 Hz notebooks, Asus also announced new Zephyrus models with a glacier blue chassis aimed at a broader audience of gamers who also work as creative professionals. These laptops are the Zephyrus S GX502, Zephyrus M GU502, and Strix G G531 and G731. They will go on sale in the third quarter of 2019. Prices were not disclosed either.

The new Zephyrus models have Pantone calibrated displays and will come with RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 graphics cards and ninth-generation Intel processors. We will keep you informed as soon as we know more.
