At the beginning of this year, during the CES 2017 event, ASUS and Google presented the latest device developed within the framework of the Tango Project, a smartphone named ASUS ZenFone AR whose main novelty was the incorporation of support for the Google Daydream VR platform.

Today during the Google I / O event 2017, the company finally revealed that the ASUS ZenFone AR will go on sale this summer with a price still unknown and only through the American operator Verizon.

ASUS ZenFone AR, main features

The Asus ZenFone AR comes with a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen, as well as 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space.

Asus has also incorporated Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 processor, which although it seems somewhat old, the SoC is specially optimized for Tango, Google's augmented reality platform for mobile phones. In addition, the terminal will also come with support for Daydream VR and will have the Android Nougat operating system.

On the other hand, the terminal will also incorporate a 23-megapixel rear camera with F / 2.0 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilization, 3x zoom, autofocus, and depth and motion tracking sensors. On the front it will house an 8 megapixel camera with F / 2.0 aperture and 1080p recording.

Finally, the mobile will also arrive with Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, Bluetooth 4.2, USB-C and a 3300mAh non-removable battery.

Augmented reality

The Tango technology of Zenfone AR will allow the terminal "to detect how far it is from a wall, a wall or an object, and it will be able to understand where it moves in three-dimensional space, " according to Asus.

For now, no specific details have been provided about the launch date of the mobile, beyond revealing that it will go on sale this summer exclusively through Verizon stores.
