A few days ago a bug came to light on those computers with Skylake and Kaby Lake processors that involved the function of HyperThreading and that could cause data corruption and unstable system performance. This bug was discovered by Debian developers and until now we have had no answers as to whether it would be fixed.

Intel Skylake HyperThreading "Bug" - Kaby Lake was already resolved in April

It turns out that the HyperThreading bug in Skylake and Kaby Lake was already solved in April by the motherboard manufacturers.

The bug affected systems with Intel "Skylake" and "Kaby lake" processors. These are: 6th and 7th generation Intel Core processors (desktop, embedded, mobile and HEDT), their related server processors (such as Xeon v5 and Xeon v6), as well as certain models of Intel Pentium processors.

Although the error did not eventually escalate and no disastrous cases were reported, according to the Debian developers, this HyperThreading error was much more common than the misprint led us to believe and could easily affect daily operation. When developers found out, they encouraged people to disable HT, an exaggerated move according to what Intel has said.

If you have any of these processors, be sure to keep the motherboard BIOS up to date if you haven't already.
