Core i7 5820k will have fewer pci lines
Table of contents:
Rumored for some time now it has finally been confirmed that the smallest of Intel's new family of Core i7 Haswell-E processors, the Core i7-5820K will feature fewer PCI-E lines than its older siblings.
The processor in question will have "only" with 28 PCI-E lines compared to the 40 lines that its older brothers will use, thus it is expected that its performance in multi-GPU will be similar to the i7 4790K present in the LGA 1150 platform much more economic.
The i7-5930K and i7-5960X models will allow multi-GPU configurations with up to 2 x16 slots and a third x8 slot, against systems with the i7 5820K they will settle for more modest configurations with an x16 slot, an x8 slot and a third slot x4
Technical characteristics
Recall that the i7 5820K is a processor with 6 cores, 12 threads thanks to the use of HyperThreading, 12 MB of L3 cache and 4-channel DDR4 memory controller, so the i7-5820K is still a very interesting processor.
