New rumors arrive confirming that Intel is preparing to launch the new Core i7 6700K skylake processor during the third quarter of this year, more specifically it would arrive before the IDF 2015 that begins on August 18.

The Core i7 6700K will maintain the traditional four physical cores with HT for a total of 8 processing threads, nothing new in this field. Regarding the L3 cache, the 8 MB that have been accompanying the Core i7 for generations and that have been reduced to 6 MB in Broadwell are recovered. Its speed will be 4GHz in base mode and 4.2 GHz in turbo mode so in this aspect there will be no great difference from the i7 4790K Haswell, we will have to see the improvement at IPC level of the new Skylake architecture. Finally, the VRM is removed from the die of the processor and returned to the motherboard, a move that will help reduce the heat generated by the chip.

Intel is rumored to stop including its Stock heatsinks in overclocked processors due to their insufficient ability to keep the chip's temperature under control.
