The Windows 10 Mobile community has to thank Rene Lergner, also known as Heathcliff74, a user who has created the Windows 10 Mobile bootloader unlock solution, breaking the Microsoft bootloader protections, and who allowed developments as crazy as full Windows 10 at ARM.

Heathcliff74 publishes the code for its Windows 10 Mobile boot loader unlocker

Heathcliff74 will be a bit busy from now on and will no longer be able to give his full attention to the project. Like any good hacker in that position, rather than just disappearing, he has created his project, Open Source WPInternals, which means any good developer can take over his work, update it, modify it, or fix bugs.

I uploaded all the Windows Phone Internals source code to Github. I also created some tools that helped me develop Internal Windows Phone. I will upload this to Github somewhere soon too. I'll still do some development, but I don't have much time for it lately. So I hope other developers and hackers can contribute as well.

If Microsoft will ever launch a Surface phone, I will have a new challenge and work on it. Maybe try to hack an iPhone in the meantime, LOL. The source of Windows Phone's internal parts can be found here:

Happy coding!

René

If that describes you, you can see the WPInternals source code on Github. Heathcliff74 also promised to load some of its early hacking tools, and to return in time for the Surface phone to unlock.

The Windows Phone community is almost extinct, but there are still some users of the failed Microsoft platform, who can benefit from the work started by Heathcliff74. What do you think of this disinterested gesture?
