Twitter security flaw affects 17 million users
Table of contents:
Last weekend it was revealed that Twitter was the victim of a fairly serious vulnerability in its Android app. For this reason, users were asked to update to the new version of the application, to solve this vulnerability. Not many details were given, although it was commented that said failure had not been exploited, unless it was known.
Twitter security flaw affects 17 million users
Little by little we are learning more about this failure, which in theory could have affected some 17 million users of the popular social network.
Security breach
The failure on Twitter could be related to a hack by security researcher Ibrahim Balic, who was able to check phone numbers in the phonebook and compare them with the numbers of users of the social network. So he was able to associate the phone numbers with the profiles of 17 million users on the social network.
This helps make it possible to expose the identity of all these anonymous users. A serious ruling, which appears to be, has already been amended, at least it is expected to be. Luckily, this bug was not exploited, as recently discussed.
Twitter has not spoken on this news. Since they sent an email to all users of the social network asking to update the app on their phone, they have not commented more on this incident. But we can see that it is a fairly serious vulnerability in the social network.
