The Huawei Matebook X is Huawei's first authentic laptop, after the company has tried several interesting hybrids in the past.
While Microsoft was bragging about its new Surface Pro 5, Huawei wanted to demonstrate that classic laptops are not quite dead yet, with the only condition being to reinvent them for a new generation of users. Based on this premise, the Chinese have officially announced the Huawei Matebook X, a very interesting system and more useful than ever. As long as you don't mind the great similarity it has with the Apple MacBook.
Huawei Matebook X debuts to compete with Apple's MacBook
Apple's 12-inch MacBooks are still some of the most compact ultraportables on the market. But this does not mean that they cannot serve as inspiration for other more or less large manufacturers. In the case of the Huawei Matebook X, the most fascinating thing is that the company's engineers have not only managed to improve the design of the MacBook, but also its performance.
The Huawei Matebook X has 1.2-mm keys, while the Apple MacBook lacks this feature. The same keyboard chosen by Huawei is also splash resistant. Also, the hidden fingerprint sensor under the start button makes the authentication process easier, especially in a situation where multiple people use the same computer.
As for the hardware configuration, the new Matebook X is made around a 13-inch 2K screen, while inside it houses the latest Intel Core i7 processor, with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
The promised autonomy is 10 hours of video playback in Full HD quality. In addition, the new laptop also provides a Dolby Atmos audio system and two USB-C ports (it comes with a USB C to HDMI, USB A, USB C and VGA adapter). The ideal would have been a memory card reader, but this is not so important anymore.
For now, the price of the Huawei Matebook X is unknown, but it should reach all corners of the world this summer.
