The new Intel i9-9990EX is one of those processors that does not appear in public before it appears on any manufacturer's devices, that is why the only way to test it is through a specific assembler when it is for sale.

On the other hand, the i9-9990XE is a different chip, because it targets desktop computers. Although this processor has been a mystery, now Puget Systems has obtained some units to review them thoroughly.

Puget Systems has done the same and has tested the i9-9990XE in the different applications of the Adobe suite in order to give us an idea of ​​its performance.

I9-9990XE Features

Intel's i9-9990XE processor has 14 cores and 28 threads in a Skylake architecture, confirming it's a high-profile variant of the i9-9940X, plus the i9-9940X has a 3.3 GHz base clock, going up to 4.5 GHz with performance improvement, while the i9-9990XE comes with a base clock of 4.0 GHz going up to 5.0 GHz on all cores with performance improvement and going up to 5.1 GHz on two cores.

Like any other processor with Intel architecture, the i9-9990XE supports DDR4-2666 on four channels. Its TDP is 255W, a figure that increases when overclocked and is much higher than that of the i9-9990EX, with only 165W.

Benchmark Results for the i9-9990XE Processor

Puget Systems used the i9-9990XE in all of the adobe suite applications alongside a Gigabyte X2999 motherboard, 128GB of DDR4-2666 RAM and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB. The results were as expected in all applications.

The i9-9990XE processor outperformed its competitors in all applications, except Photoshop, where the i9-9990K triumphed thanks to its single-core performance.
