Just 6 months after OnePlus 3 sees the light, the Chinese company has unveiled its successor, the OnePlus 3T. It is not a complete renovation but a review, below we will tell you about one of the best high-end Android smartphones.

OnePlus 3T processor

One of the renewed elements has been the processor, which passes from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC to its brother 821. This change does not mean night and day in terms of performance, but offers the same architecture but being able to raise the CPU to 2.4GHz, 10% more than the 820. The Andreno 530 graphics on the Snapdragon 820 (let's not forget that the SoCs of our smartphones and tablets have CPUs and GPUs) also go up in frequency.

In short, it seems that the Snapdagon 820 and 821 that mount the OnePlus 3 and Oneplus 3T respectively, are but two versions of the same processor. They are manufactured as the same model and those with fewer defects receive a speed increase and are sold as 821. Is it a determining feature for the phone's performance? Of course not, but it is appreciated.

Battery and camera

The only feature that didn't score high on the OnePlus 3 was its battery capacity. This now goes from 3000 to 3400 mAh without increasing the weight of the terminal. Notably, its proprietary Dash Charge fast charge system will continue to shorten charging times with little warm-up. Be careful, however, when using a USB-C cable other than the one provided by the brand.

The 8MP Sony sensor has been replaced by a 16MP Samsung sensor, matching those of the rear camera. The rear camera sensor, on the other hand, is still the previous 16MP Sony and includes a feature called "Intelligent Pixel Technology" (which does not specify whether it is software or hardware) to improve photographs taken in low light. On the other hand, the glass that protects the rear camera now receives a sapphire coating to make it more resistant and hard. This reassures users that they carry their smartphones in their pockets and have protruding rear cameras like this one.

If it's just a renewal, what hasn't changed?

As can be seen from the table below, many elements retain their specifications. By renewing its most powerful terminal, OnePlus has taken the opportunity to polish all those sections where its grade was not as good as that of competing terminals. In the absence of seeing if this completion gives him the podium of the super mid-range, it is very clear that the OnePlus 3T is going to be a tough rival to crack during the rest of 2016 and a good part of 2017.

Availability and price

Some consumers who want to get the best value for money read this article to try to find out if they are worth buying the current model on sale on Black Friday or waiting for the new model. Unfortunately OnePlus has not behaved well, and declares a stock decrease until further notice of OnePlus 3. This will mean that, at least in Europe, we will not be able to access a discount on Black Friday and the previous period, favoring purchases of the new OnePlus 3T (which goes on sale the next day). In the hypothetical situation of finding those OnePlus 3 so elusive that someone had put it in a drawer a couple of weeks later, even if it is to get rid of the stock at a price without discount, it would be a pretty ugly move for us consumers.

That is why we would have liked to be able to advise you and warn you of a price decrease in the current model before running out of stock. Everything indicates that we will not be able to do it and we will have to wait until November 28 to buy the new OnePlus 3T.
