The next Qualcomm r SoC processing based on a new 7nm manufacturing process will come out in 2019 and different information begins to appear on the network. So far, information about it has been scant, but one thing keeps popping up: the name SM8150, which suggests the company is looking to change the nomenclatures for its upcoming chips.

SM8150 would offer a performance on par with the Kirin 980 and Apple A12 Bionic

The name of Snapdragon 8150 came up a few days ago and now a Bluetooth certification document confirms it. The list mentions Qualcomm SM8150 compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 and it seems that the chip went through the certification process just on October 4.

The certification page reveals that the chipset supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac 2 × 2 MIMO, as well as Bluetooth 5.0 'Low Energy'. However, the "Design Name" on the certification page appears as WCN3998-0, which refers to Qualcomm's latest wireless chip. Smartphone manufacturers may decide to pair the hypothetical Snapdragon 8150 with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem, which will also be manufactured at a 7nm process node. Many 'smartphone' manufacturers are expected to launch their first 5G-capable devices next year. We can expect all of them to be powered by this SM8150 chip.

This processor is expected to offer performance on par with the Kirin 980 and Apple A12 Bionic, which together with the 5G modem will offer a revolution in mobile telephony.
