A few weeks ago we told you about the decrease in the prices of DRAMs and SSDs that will last until 2019. It seems that these forecasts continue to stand with the data revealed by DRAMeXchange, which reports drops in the price of DRAM modules during the last quarter, with a downward trend for the coming months.

The price of DRAM memory modules continues its downward trend

A report on DRAM market prices from DRAMeXchange, a division of Trendforce, has just released a prediction that DRAM prices will fall by 2019. The report indicates that the prices of 4GB PC DRAM memory modules on the market have already dropped 10.14% ($ 34.5 in the third quarter of 18 months to $ 31 today), relative to the previous quarter, as a sign that they will continue to drop. The price of 8 GB DRAM modules has dropped by 10.29%, indicating a greater stock of these parts.

The report also indicates that suppliers have just reached the tipping point for oversupply, despite manufacturers' continued efforts to artificially reduce manufacturing to keep pressure on demand. The report further states that “ ASP across the DRAM market is projected to fall by as much as 20% annually in 2019, according to the latest DRAMeXchange analysis. After peaking in profits in the third quarter of 2018, DRAM providers are optimizing their costs to have a smooth drop in 2019 as prices drop every quarter . ”

This seems to be good news for consumers, with cheaper memories for both DDR and flash memory modules.
