The latest GPU shipment report for the third quarter of 2018 has been released by Jon Peddie Research , which is already a classic of recent years. This time around, AMD witnessed an increase in sales compared to rival NVIDIA, while Intel led the majority of GPU shipments. However, when it comes to PC GPU sales alone, they fell 19.21%.

GPU AMD shipments increased 6.5%, NVIDIA shipments 4.3% and Intel shipments 13.1%.

In the third quarter of 2018, the total number of GPU shipments increased by 10.64% over the previous quarter. During the same quarter, AMD increased its GPU shipments by 6.5%, NVIDIA by 4.3% and Intel by 13.1%. If we talk about the market share of each, we see that those of AMD and NVIDIA fell -0.6% and -0.97%, respectively, while that of Intel increased 1.5%.

The main factor contributing to the increase in sales were notebooks, in which GPU shipments increased 7%, while desktop graphics decreased 16%. Total GPU shipments for the year decreased 2.2% from a year earlier. All eyes are on the fall of cryptocurrency mining.
