QNAP® Systems, Inc. has partnered with Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) to launch the world's first Ryzen ™ -based NAS: the high-end TS-x77 professional series (available in 6, 8, and 12-bay models). Featuring processors with up to 8 cores / 16 threads (with Turbo Core up to 3.7 GHz), SSD caching, and graphics card support, the TS-x77 offers incredible processing power for resource-intensive applications such as VDI, server virtualization, private cloud and 4K video playback / transcoding.
The world's first Ryzen NAS: QNAP TS-x77
The TS-x77 series includes models with AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (8-core / 16-wire) and AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (6-core / 12-wire) processors that support AES-NI encryption acceleration and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. Two 6GB / s M.2 SATA SSD slots are provided for acceleration of cache memory or high-performance storage pools. All models in the series offer USB 3.1 Gen2 10Gbps type A and type C ports, and three PCIe slots for incredible expansion potential. Supported PCIe devices include a graphics card, 10GbE / 40GbE NIC, PCIe NVMe SSD, USB 3.1 expansion cards, and QM2 cards (which add additional M.2 SSDs or 10GbE connectivity). Incorporating incredible performance, reliability and scalability, the TS-x77 series offers an exceptional storage solution for a variety of professional IT environments.
“We are very pleased with our partnership with AMD to launch the world's first 'NAS Ryzen'. Being able to take advantage of the tremendous multi-core and multi-thread performance of Ryzen processors underscores QNAP's dedication to the evolution of the NAS industry and enables the TS-x77 series to run very demanding professional applications with processors, "said YT Lee, Vice President of QNAP, who also added: “The TS-x77 also offers great flexibility in expanding network bandwidth, GPU-accelerated features, and storage capacity, making it an excellent choice for companies and professionals ”.
"We are pleased to continue our relationship with QNAP by providing high-performance NAS solutions in rigid professional IT environments, " said Dan Bounds, Senior Director of Enterprise Products, AMD. "With their exceptional speed, performance and low power consumption, AMD Ryzen processors with 'Zen' core architecture present the most advanced AMD embedded processors to date and have the potential to represent a turning point in the NAS market segment high performance for SMEs. ”
The advantages of the TS-x77 series multithreading are particularly well suited for virtualization: in a LoginVSI test environment, the TS-1277 is capable of running up to 16 virtual machines simultaneously. The TS-x77 is ready for virtualization in VMware®, Citrix®, Microsoft® Hyper-V® and Windows Server® 2012 R2 environments with iSER (iSCSI Over RDMA) support. It can host virtual machines and containers as an efficient all-in-one server and supports virtual machine backups and snapshots for all-in-one virtualization management. The TS-x77 will also support the upcoming Virtual QTS that allows users to run multiple virtual QTS systems on a single NAS, to provide benefits of resource segregation (CPU, memory, networks), flexible application deployment, and energy savings, costs and space.
The TS-x77 series is RAID 50/60 compliant to provide increased data protection and random write performance, striking a balance of capacity, protection and performance. The latest Qtier ™ 2.0 adds IO Aware capabilities for SSD tiered storage to maintain cache-like reserved space to handle I / O uploads in real time, maximizing cost-performance value.
Running the QTS 4.3 smart operating system, the TS-x77 series is a comprehensive storage solution for data storage, backup / restore, sharing, and management. The integrated QTS App Center includes hundreds of on-demand install applications to extend NAS functionality while increasing productivity: the centralized management solution QRM + features graphical topology diagrams for managing Windows®, Linux® and IPMI devices; Q'center Consolidates Management of Multiple QNAP NAS; QVPN integrates VPN server configurations and VPN clients; Browser Station allows secure and comfortable access to private networks; Surveillance Station provides a professional video surveillance solution; QIoT Suite Lite builds a private IoT platform in the cloud; and much more.
