Snapdragon 855 is the first 5G processor on the market, thanks to a modem. MediaTek is Qualcomm's main competitor in the market, although its processors are more aimed at the mid and lower range. The Chinese brand does not currently have a processor with 5G support on the market. For this, we will have to wait a while. Because its launch is expected in 2020.

MediaTek's 5G processor will hit the market in 2020

This has been confirmed by the company itself. Later this year it is likely that this new processor, successor to Helio P90, will be presented. Although it will not be until next year when it begins to use.

New MediaTek processor

Helio P90 is the most powerful MediaTek processor today. It was introduced at the end of last year, although it did not come with 5G support as expected. The company later unveiled a modem that would support 5G. But it will not arrive integrated in this processor. Rather, it will do so on the chip that the firm plans to launch in 2020. This model will come with native 5G.

The company has not disclosed too much detail about it. We know that it will be manufactured at 7 nm. For this reason, everything indicates that TSMC will be responsible for manufacturing it, except for some surprises.

So we will still have to wait a while until MediaTek is going to bring 5G to the mid and low range of many brands on Android. This first processor will be presented at the end of this. Its production and launch will be in the first half of 2020.
