We continue talking about the supposed eight-core Intel Coffee Lake processor, a silicon that has been talked about for months and that seems increasingly closer to being a reality.

New proof of the existence of an eight-core processor based on the Coffee Lake architecture

Since the arrival of the first AMD Ryzen processors, there has been speculation that Intel will put an eight-core processor on the market for its mainstream platform. Biostar has already accidentally revealed the existence of the Intel Z390 chipset, which could be in charge of supporting this hypothetical eight-core processor based on the Coffee Lake architecture.

Now, this alleged eight-core Coffee Lake silicon has appeared in Intel's white papers, further proof that its existence is getting closer to being officially confirmed. These documents require special access to the Intel website, so we do not know what they contain at this time. The oldest reference dates from December 2017, with all the references offering the label "Laptop", suggesting that there will be a mobile variant.

This eight-core Coffee Lake processor could mean the arrival of the Core i9 family to Intel's mainstream platform, that is, the LGA 1151 socket. This could be a powerful marketing tool, once users have already assimilated that Core i9 are the most powerful processors from the semiconductor giant.

It is possible that it will be at the Computex of this year 2018, when we see the first official confirmation of this eight-core processor, and the new motherboards based on the Intel Z390 chipset.
