Google is doing great with Android, but the Internet giant wants to have a plan B in case things ever go wrong, that's where its new Fuchsia operating system comes into play, which is still in an experimental phase.

You can now use Fuchsia on your Pixelbook

Fuchsia is Google's alternative to Android, it is a system that moves away from the Linux kernel that is still under development but can already be installed and used in some devices such as Google's Pixelbook, Acer's Switch 12 and some Intel NUC Teams of the Year 2015.

An important difference with Android is that it needs an Intel processor, so for now it is not possible to use it on smartphones and tablets that make use of the ARM architecture, which are the majority. Therefore, it is to be expected that Google's intention is not to replace Android but to offer an alternative system on some devices. Of course, this could change if it is made compatible with ARM devices in the future.

This Fuchsia system is up to date with the use of its Zircon kernel and a rendering engine that is based on Vulkan, the current low-level API that rivals DirectX 12 so it is clear that it is at the highest level in this regard. Its graphical interface continues to bet on Material Design, so the appearance is very similar to what we can find today on Android. Finally we highlight that for the development of Fuchsia's applications a kit is used that has been developed by Google itself and that responds to the name of Flutter.
