Gaming smartphones are all the rage in the industry right now. Razer was the first to introduce a gaming smartphone and Xiaomi and ZTE soon followed with Black Shark and Nubia Red Magic, respectively. Now, it appears that ASUS is planning a gaming smartphone under its gaming brand Republic of Gamers, or ROG.

ASUS ROG also wants its own gaming phone

According to insider information, ASUS plans to unveil a gaming-focused smartphone during this year's Computex fair, to be held in Taiwan from June 5 to 9. The internal source didn't reveal the specs, but it's not that difficult to guess.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 is most likely the chip used, after all it is the most powerful one right now for the mobile market. For smooth operation, the device most likely has 8GB of RAM and a display that offers a very good refresh rate, between 120Hz and 144Hz. Whether ASUS used an LCD or OLED screen is a mystery.

The price will reflect the features and specifications, but it is likely to be at the same level as that of its competitors, such as Xiaomi's Black Shark and ZTE's Nubia Red Magic.

It is also very possible that ASUS is betting on some kind of unusual cooling for this phone, and ASUS already has experience with this with its other products, especially on ROG laptops.
