- 360 degree photos on Facebook with the 360 Photos app
- They can be viewed with virtual reality devices
Mark Zuckerberg's popular social network has just added a new feature that marks a new milestone within the platform, the arrival of 360-degree photos for Facebook. Some time ago, the possibility of uploading videos to 360 degrees had been added but something similar was missing for the photographs, this will be possible thanks to the 360 Photos application that is available to all users from now on.
360 degree photos on Facebook with the 360 Photos app
The way the 360 Photos app is going to work is quite simple, you just have to take a panoramic photo with your smartphone with this application (or any other that is specialized) and Facebook will automatically identify and share the panoramic photo by giving you to share. The photo will be published just like any other Facebook content and to identify the 360-degree panoramic photos at your start there will be a compass on them, you can rotate the image in all directions by dragging and releasing the mouse on them.
They can be viewed with virtual reality devices
Those responsible for the social network have commented that panoramic photos can be viewed with virtual reality devices such as Samsung Gear VR or the Oculus Rift to feel a more "realistic" feeling.
In this way, Facebook already has its own specialized application in this sector compared to Google options such as Photo Sphere.
The first 360-degree panoramic photograph was shared by Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg himself from the tip of the One World Trade Center building in Manhattan.
