Fedora 24: all its news

A few hours ago the final version of Fedora 24 was released, the Linux distro that is sponsored by Red Hat and that will arrive in three versions, Workstation for personal computers, Server for server computers and Cloud for devices based on the cloud.

Fedora 24 with GNOME 3.20 and the new Flatpack

In the following paragraphs we will review the news that Fedora 24 will have , one of the most important Linux distros.

Firstly, it should be noted that this new version of Fedora will make use of the GNOME 3.20 graphical environment, which is applied by default. The creators of Fedora have commented that this new version number 24 will be less radical than on other occasions and the novelties will not be 'revolutionary' but they will bring enough seasonings to encourage updating.

In this sense, the inclusion of Flatpack as the system software manager is one of the most interesting novelties, which arrives to compete with the famous Ubuntu Snaps. From the beginning Fedora 24 will include Kernel Linux 4.5.7, the latest in the 4.5 series, in the coming weeks they promise to release the new version of Kernel Linux 4.6 as soon as they fix all the system stability problems.

According to the developer team, the new Wayland graphics server will not be included by default but will be available as an alternative to Xorg Server. Wayland if it would come by default in the future Fedora 25.

With Fedora 24 we will also have a special image for ARM devices or mini-PCs like Raspberry Pi or Orange Pi that are so fashionable. We could also point out that the managers of Fedora 24 have not wanted to 'overload' the system with pre-installed applications and software known as Chromium, Steam or Spotify will not come by default, so if we want to install them we will have to resort to the classic terminal. On the other hand, if applications such as Thunderbird, Caliber, Transmission, GIMP or Darktable will be available from the beginning.
