G.Skill is one of the world's largest manufacturers of RAM memory. Every so often he releases a new version of his current memories. On this occasion, we have been sent the renewed G.Skill Sniper X with a military appearance, compatibility with Dual Channel DDR4 technology, a maximum frequency of 3600 MHz and a heatsink that will keep the memories fresh. It doesn't look bad, does it? ?

Unboxing and design

The G.Skill Sniper X are presented in a distinctive plastic blister of the brand. On the cover we can see the two RAM memory modules with their corresponding stickers, which indicates their main characteristics.

Once we open the box we find:

The pack is made up of two DDR4 modules of 8 GB each, for a total of 16 GB. They are proven to run at a maximum frequency of 3600 Mhz for the Intel platform, although we have seen some news that they are compatible with AMD Ryzen, and it has latencies CL 19 (19-19-19-39) with a voltage of 1.35v. We have seen memories with these frequencies with a voltage of 1.50v… Not bad!

As expected, the modules are 100% compatible with the new XMP 2.0 profile that integrates the Z370 input platform and the enthusiastic X299. Due to its characteristics and its design, it is one of the best ranges of RAM memory that could have passed through our test bench.

It is a memory with a high design, that is, you have to be careful when choosing a heatsink . Because if we do not do it well we may have a compatibility problem. As an advantage we find a very efficient dissipation and a super nice design.

For lovers of RGB, we are sorry to say that it does not have small lights. It is up to you to consider whether it is gaming or not… at least for this detail:-p.

As we can see in the previous images, it has a height of 21.86 cm and combines great with our Asus Maximus X APEX motherboard. In our case, we have chosen a variant that combines very well with any motherboard (Sniper X Classic), but you have other pretty cool skins in green / white / black (Sniper X Digital) and black / yellow (Sniper X Urban).

Undoubtedly, a brutal design for a well-combined set that can be a cinema. A great success on the part of the company! We just need to see how it performs. Here we go!

We have used a top of the range Z370 motherboard and an i7-8700X processor that we have been using for a while in our test bench. All the results have been passed with the 3600 MHz profile and applying a voltage of 1.35V in its Dual Channel mode. Let's see the results obtained!

As we can see the readings and writings in AIDA 64 are fantastic. In addition to having quite low latencies. It is also true that we have the 5 GHz processor (we have a black leg at the moment in the test bench) and in cinebench we get 1652 cb with the 3600 MHz memories. What a result!

Final words and conclusion about G.Skill Sniper X

G.Skill has created some amazing memories! Its two premises are: to offer great performance and to have three daring designs, ideal for those users who do care about aesthetics on their PC but without RGB lights.

Among its benefits we find a minimum frequency of 2400 MHz that reaches up to 3600 MHz in its 16, 32 and 64 GB variants. It can also be quickly activated on your motherboard with the XMP 2.0 profile and supports Dual Channel and Quad Channel technology.

Currently we can find them in online stores for about 191 euros. It is true that we are not in the best GB / Euro moment in RAM memory due to its price increases during these last two years. But we believe that if you are looking for memories with very high frequencies the G: Skill Sniper X are a highly interesting option.
