Gears of War 5, now renamed to Gears 5, was one of Microsoft's big announcements at past E3 in Los Angeles. The long-awaited action title was announced for the XBOX One console and PC.
The first versions of Gears of War 5 are already capable of reaching 120 fps
In a recent interview with Wired , Rod Fergusson of The Coalition spoke about Gears of War 5 in detail, confirming already-known facts such as how the game is targeting about 60 fps and 4K on Xbox One X and that the game will have a simultaneous release on the Windows 10 and Xbox One system.
During this interview, Fergusson stated that the game is "built from scratch" for the PC, taking advantage of all the optimization and versatility options that the PC offers. Gears of War 4 performed exceptionally well when it was released in 2016, offering one of the best optimizations for a PC game using DirectX 12, something the Coalition wants to improve further.
The first versions of Gears of War 5 are already capable of reaching up to 120 fps, which is a good sign for PC gaming addicts. Gears of War 4 offered options for Async Compute, variable resolutions, and other high-end gaming features, and Gears of War 5 promises to add HDR to the mix. It is currently unknown whether The Coalition plans to make use of other PC-specific features like Radeon's Rapid Packed Math, although it seems likely that the game is exclusive to DirectX 12 on the platform.
Gears of War 5 will be released throughout 2019, probably in the final months of that year, as is already the tradition in the Gears franchise.
