Geforce gtx 1060 with 3gb and less cores

Before the launch of the GeForce GTX 1060 there was talk that it would come in a cheaper variant with only 3GB of memory and a slightly trimmed core, after all it seems that the rumors were not so wrong and the card is very real.

GeForce GTX 1060 3GB is real and would be near launch

The GeForce GTX 1060 3GB is a new graphics card from Nvidia that could perfectly go through a GeForce GTX 1050. The card will use a slightly trimmed GP106 core to offer a total of 9 SMs which translates to 1, 152 CUDA Cores, 72 TMUs and Same 48 ROPs from the original GTX 1060. The new card will use 3 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 192-bit interface and a bandwidth of 192 GB / s to support its graphics core that would reach a maximum frequency of 1, 709 MHz.

In short, a new cheaper card than the current GeForce GTX 1060 with which it will share a name but not specifications, perhaps a marketing maneuver to make it appear superior to what it really will be. Its specifications would put it slightly below the GTX 1060 but not much.
