Geforce gtx 1060 is the most popular card on steam, 6 and 8 core processors up
Table of contents:
Steam has published its hardware and software survey for the month of June, with 125 million users the Valve platform is the benchmark in PC gaming and the best source of information about the hardware most used by gamers. GeForce GTX 1060 is the new queen.
GeForce GTX 1060 and quad-core processors rule on Steam
The GeForce GTX 970 was the most popular graphics card among gamers thanks to its arrival on the market in 2014 with excellent performance and a fairly adjusted price for what it offered at the time. Last year Nvidia launched the GeForce GTX 1060 with superior performance and a slightly tighter price, which has earned it to become the new queen among PC video game players. It is not surprising since the GTX 1060 is capable of surpassing even the GTX 980 with a much lower price than what it had on the market. So the GeForce GTX 1060 is the most used graphics card on Steam with 6.29%, second is the GTX 970 that holds 5.20%, in third place we have the GTX 1070 with 3.60%.
From AMD we have the Radeon RX 480 as the most used card with 1.02%, lower than even the powerful and expensive GeForce GTX 1080 with 1.73%. The rest of AMD's most popular solutions such as the RX 470 and RX 460 do not even reach a 1% usage quota.
Nvidia GTX 1060 Review (Analysis in Spanish)
If we look at the processors we see how Intel continues to rise in usage quota until reaching 80.92%, an increase of + 0.81% from the month of May. On the other hand, AMD drops to 19.01% from the 19.86% it had in the month of May. It seems that the arrival of Ryzen has not served to improve the figures on Steam. Maybe we have to wait a little longer to see the impact of Ryzen on Steam.
Within the processors we can see that the dual-core models have declined in popularity while the quad-core models have already reached 52.29% share of use, not in vain the Core i5 have always been the most recommended to play. The 6 and 8 core processors are gaining popularity although they are still far below the 4 core models.
As for RAM, 8 GB is still the most common with 38.98% of users, systems with 12 GB or more increase to 23.06% and systems with 4 GB of memory remain in the 17.67%. We turn to VRAM and we find that 31.13% of teams carry cards with 1 GB of memory, 24.68% mount 2 GB, 10.95% mount 4 GB and only 4.5% of systems reach 8 GB of graphic memory.
