There is no doubt that the Radeon RX 480 has caused Nvidia to accelerate its plans with the GeForce GTX 1060, its new graphics card with Pascal architecture and which seeks to be a much more attractive option in terms of price than the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 of the that we have already talked about so much.

The GeForce GTX 1060 has been leaked in image form from Hong Kong to show us its reference design. As it has been happening in previous generations, the new mid-range card has a shorter PCB than the cooling system, something that also happens in the Radeon RX 480. This opens the door for us to see much shorter custom cards. Since custom heatsinks are more efficient with the space they take up so there will be no need for them to stick out.

The GeForce GTX 1060 will arrive with a new Pascal GP106 GPU, a 192-bit bus and 6 GB of memory for a contained production cost that allows it to offer a very competitive price and performance product. We may even see a cheaper variant of the card with just 3GB of memory although we think that would already seriously penalize its gaming performance and put it at a distinct disadvantage compared to the Radeon RX 480.

Thus Nvidia would be facing a dilemma by having mounted a 192-bit interface that does not allow it to create a card with 4 GB of memory that is surely ideal for the range that this product is aimed at.
