A few days ago Nvidia confirmed the arrival of GTX 1060 graphics cards with GDDR5X memory, and now Gigabyte becomes the first manufacturer to launch one of these models on the market, belonging to its G1 Gaming series.

GTX 1060 G1 Gaming with GDDR5X memory revealed

The model we share today is called the G1 Gaming D5X 6G. This is the return of the Gigabyte G1 Gaming series, with this new model of the GTX 1060 with 6GB of GDDR5X memory.

Obviously, Gigabyte is trying to remove old stock, so both the case and the design of the refrigerator are similar to other models from the manufacturer.

The new graphics card uses GDDR5X memory, faster than the standard GDDR5. We are not sure how this will affect overall performance, but it is expected to be much higher (under overclocking).

The new model will most likely incorporate the GP104 GPU, and not the GP106, but Gigabyte is not sharing this information. If that's the case, we should also ask ourselves what will happen to the SLI port, because the images show something that looks like an SLI port.

An SLI port would be included in this model

Currently, the clock speeds and availability date are unknown, but it could be assumed that this information will be shared very soon by the manufacturer.

We could also expect many other manufacturers of custom graphics cards to start presenting their own models with GDDR5X memories, perhaps, beginning to replace the current ones with GDDR5 memories.
