Announced the new Gigabyte X170-Extreme ECC motherboard based on the Intel C236 chipset and focused on building high-performance workstations with the most advanced technologies.

Gigabyte X170-Extreme ECC for the most demanding Workstation

The new Gigabyte X170-Extreme ECC motherboard comes in an ATX format and includes an LGA 1151 socket and an Intel C236 chipset, to support Intel Xeon E3-1200 V5 processors based on the advanced and efficient Skylake microarchitecture. Surrounding the socket are four DIMM slots with support for DDR4 ECC memory. The board is powered by a 20 + 4-pin ATX connector and an 8-pin EPS connector, no surprise in this regard.

The Gigabyte X170-Extreme ECC enables configurations with high graphics processing power thanks to its three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (one of them is electrically x4) and it also includes three PCI-Express 3.0 x1 slots to connect various expansion cards.

A distinctive feature is that its two USB 3.1 ports (1 x Type-A and 1 x Type-C) use a controller that connects to a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 bus to offer an independent bandwidth of 10 GB / s. In each of the ports, this ensures that there will be no loss of bandwidth or consistency. As for storage, it has two M.2 32 GB / s slots, four SATA Express 16 GB / s and eight SATA III 6 GB / s ports.

Its specifications are completed with four additional USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt 3 40 GB / s (DisplayPort 1.2), a USB 3.1 Type-C port, two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces (Intel I219-V and Killer E2400), Creative SoundCore 3D audio with section Independent of PCB and Dual-UEFI BIOS.

Its price and market availability date have not been announced.
