AMD seems to have grown tired of TSMC's delays in its manufacturing process at 20nm and has announced that it will be Global Foundries that will manufacture its GPUs from now on, remember that currently GF is the company in charge of manufacturing AMD's CPUs.
Global Foundries bought the factories of IBM a few months ago, a maneuver that was done with very advanced technology in the manufacture of semiconductors so that AMD will be able to benefit from it. There is also a collaboration between Global Foundries and the giant Samsung regarding the development of the manufacturing process at 20nm and 14nm FinFET.
With this move, AMD could have access to more advanced manufacturing processes than those used by its great rival in the GPU market, Nvidia, which is still waiting for TSMC to have its process ready at 16nm FinFET.
