Google continues its particular battle against piracy. Now, the Internet giant has signed up somewhat with its latest action. They have deleted 2.5 billion links to pirated pages, which can undoubtedly put many of these pages in a difficult situation.

There are increasing requests to remove pirated content on Google, generally issued by copyright managers. This causes the pages that share pirated content to have it increasingly difficult to survive. Generally, a few thousand links are deleted per day. Now, that amount has been in the millions.

Google is taking the fight against illegal content seriously. In fact, they already serve 90% of the requests they receive, so there has been a significant change in their way of acting. Now much faster and seems to be effective. All links removed were from pages that infringe copyright.

Although not all were for simple piracy, since about 154 million of the removed links were duplicates. And another 25 million invalid links. Although, there are still some 80 million links that Google has not been able to remove as they are not considered piracy.

In the past, many of the copyright managers have accused Google of not acting correctly or being unproactive. After these actions, surely many change their minds about the work that the Internet giant is carrying out. What do you think of these actions by Google?
