Last week, news broke that some Google Home Max devices were failing to connect to some Wi-Fi networks. The problem appeared in isolation for those connections between the Google Home Max and the TP-Link Archer 7 router and since it became known, more and more users are claiming to be having the same problem with other Google Home devices and Chromecast and with different routers.

Google Home, killer of Wi-Fi networks?

A week ago the news was jumping when the specialized website Android Authority published that the Google Home Max device (the largest version of the original Google Home) was failing in its connection to certain Wi-Fi networks. And although this problem seemed to be limited to the relationship between the Home Max and the TP-Link Archer C7 router, from the web they state that, after having published the news, more users have continued to manifest the same problem with other Google products in the company product forums,. Which would indicate that the problem is more widespread than at first it might seem.

Based on these new complaints, it now appears that users of other TP-Link routers and other brands like Linksys, Synology and others are also experiencing this issue. And if that were not negative enough, apparently this failure is not limited to the Google Home Max device either, but has begun to appear in other Google Home and Chromecast units, which would also be disconnecting Wi-Fi networks.

TP-Link has released a beta software update for the Archer C7 which, while it should resolve the issue, does not appear to have worked for all users. At the moment, with multiple routers affected and multiple Google devices involved, the exact cause of this problem is unknown, so there will still be a wait.
