The Google search engine could return to China this year

Since 2010, the Google search engine has no presence in China. Due to various problems, especially the country's censorship, the American company has not had this search engine in the country. Although the situation could change soon this year, as the firm plans to return. They would do it with a new search engine, which would adapt to the country's censorship.

It seems that the project has been underway for a few months and should be ready for this year. The code name of the same is Dragonfly, as it has been known in the last hours.

There would have already been meetings between Google executives and members of the Chinese government. So the state of the project seems to be much more advanced than expected. The outcome of these talks is not yet known, but at the moment there is a green light for it. Since the approval of the country's government is needed, a phase known as the Great Firewall.

It is speculated that in about six months it could be ready, but seeing the state of the negotiations, it could be finished this year. Without a doubt, it promises to be a controversial decision, due to the many rules that are imposed on Google from China.

We will see if these negotiations finally come to fruition. But it seems that the company's search engine is closer to returning to the country, in a version that will filter out all kinds of inappropriate content (pornography, Facebook, Wikipedia…). Will the negotiations come to fruition?
