Most of the current Smartphones use a special protection for their screens that make it resistant to scratches, dirt or falls, many of them use the technology created by the Corning company, the famous Gorilla Glass. A few hours ago the manufacturer has presented the new Gorilla Glass 5, the fifth generation that promises to be twice as resistant as Gorilla Glass 4.

Gorilla Glass 5 is twice as strong as the previous generation

According to data from the manufacturer Corning itself, 85% of users have dropped the phone at some point, unfortunately, a large part of these devices have not escaped unharmed. Gorilla Glass 5 uses a protective glass that is twice as resistant as the previous generation and this is demonstrated in a video presentation of this technology.

In the video presentation it is shown how a phone with Gorilla Glass 5 protection can survive unscathed to a drop of 1.6 meters, this is a breakthrough compared to the previous generation and other similar technologies. Corning also highlights that the extra protection of this glass does not affect the sensitivity on the touch screen or the clarity of the images, it will also be perfectly adaptable for those phones with curved screens.

Drop resistant up to 1.6 meters

Gorilla Glass 5 has already begun production to be present in the new phones that will be announced in the coming months and hopefully it will be one of the features of Apple's new iPhone 7. More protection is less of a concern for those who spend a good salary on a high-end phone.
