Nvidia's GTX 1660 Super has been rumored for quite some time, but until today the graphics card's specifications have been a mystery, aside from the potential use of GDDR6 memory.

GTX 1660 Super specifications are confirmed in a leak

Now, thanks to Maxsun and Chinese retailer JD.com, the specs for the GTX 1660 Super have been revealed almost in full.

These specs, which are available in the chart below, show us that the GTX 1660 Super is not as great as Nvidia's current RTX Super series as it lacks updates to the GPU core compared to the current GTX 1660 (not Super). In this way, the card offers users the same 1, 408 CUDA cores and the same core clock speeds. All that changes is the memory on the graphics card, which has been upgraded to GDDR6.

What's strange is that the GTX 1660 Super uses faster GDDR6 memory than the GTX 1660 Ti, offering 14Gbps memory instead of 12Gbps. This gives the new graphics card both memory bandwidth and an RTX 2060, making it possible for the GTX 1660 Super to outperform the GTX 1660 Ti in some limited memory workloads.

Even without an increase in CUDA cores, the GTX1660 Super is expected to offer gamers remarkable performance over Nvidia's standard GTX 1660. The Super variant will offer gamers a 75% increase in memory bandwidth, although this advantage will only translate into higher performance gains in limited memory scenarios.

This release puts the Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti in a strange position, as it is superior and inferior to the Nvidia GTX 1660 Super, offering users more CUDA cores while shipping with slower GDDR6 memory. Either way, the GTX 1660 Ti is expected to be faster in most games, it's funny that the GTX1660 Super outperforms the GTX 1660 Ti when it comes to memory bandwidth. We will keep you informed.
