There will be 15tb discs in the near future
TDK has been working for some time on a technology called HAMR (head-assisted magnetic recording, or heat-assisted magnetic recording) that it intends to implement on its hard drives in the fairly near future.
Using this technology would allow you to manufacture hard drives with a capacity of up to 15TB and best of all, they could arrive much sooner than you are imagining, specifically it could appear in late 2015 or early 2016.
Without a doubt, it is a very important step forward when it comes to storage capacity and shows that HDDs have not had their days numbered, much less despite the SSD boom and its price drop in recent years.
