Cortana has been one of the great novelties of the Windows 10 operating system in regards to voice recognition, this being a similar assistant to Siri but not only for mobile phones but also for the computer. Microsoft has always presumed that Cortana is better than Siri in everything, smarter, faster and more useful, but also safer?

Greater privacy control will come with the Anniversary Update

In the next update of Windows 10 called Anniversary Update, Microsoft intends to improve a sensitive area of Cortana that has generated some complaints from users, privacy. Cortana currently accesses herself, contacts, emails, browsing history of Microsoft Edge and the location system (among other data), all with the intention that Cortana provide us with help as reminders about special events, appointments, birthdays and all kinds of recommendations based on the data that the assistant is collecting.

So far in Windows 10 there was no option to limit what Cortana could do with our private data, this will change with the new Anniversay Updates .

With the big update that will arrive in July, Microsoft will add options to control Cortana and protect our privacy as we wish with a new permission box, as seen below these lines.

New options to control Cortana

As it can be verified, now Windows 10 will give us the possibility of deactivating the Cortana location service and avoiding the use of Internet history to recommend things to us, it will also be possible to prevent it from looking in our contacts, emails and messaging. This was one of the additions most expected by the community for the Windows 10 voice assistant and Microsoft has complied.

Stay tuned for more news about the next Windows 10 update coming soon.
