HiSilicon has revealed that Huawei is working on an even more powerful chip than the current Kirin 980, which calls itself Kirin 1020. Apparently, the Chinese giant wants to impose itself on the performance market against Qualcomm, and according to comments, it could offer double the performance of the Kirin 970, which is the one used in the P20 Pro phone.

Kirin 1020 would be 2 times more powerful than Kirin 970

Although the Kirin 970 is a powerful enough SoC chip, it is still unable to foil the Snapdragon 845 plans, found in most flagship smartphones. Rumors suggest that Huawei is planning the arrival of its Kirin 1020 in the future and, it seems, we have the feeling that it is going to face the next Snapdragon 1000.

Based on the performance of the Kirin 1020, it is said to be twice as fast as the Kirin 970, so this may mean that the next SoC could be present in notebook computers and have a TDP than that present in mobile phones. This is the same ploy that Qualcomm wants to continue with the Snapdragon 1000.

It is Microsoft that is promoting the arrival of computers with Windows 10 and ARM chips to achieve laptops with greater autonomy and cheaper, a market that Huawei will not want to miss.

In this phase, it is only speculation and we will provide more information as it arises.
