Hygon c86, a Chinese clone of epyc, ranks first in crypto

The Hygon Dhyana C86 processor, AMD's Chinese equivalent for the EPYC processor, currently ranks first in the cryptography of the SiSoft tool.

An EPYC clone made through an association between AMD and Chinese JV

The Hygon processor is actually an EPYC clone that was made through a partnership between AMD and Chinese JV. With this processor, the only thing that AMD had not developed was the cryptographic layer, which was developed by Chinese JV.

Hygon processors are essentially AMD EPYC processors manufactured by GlobalFoundries with some slight high-end design modifications by joint venture AMD-Chinese JV which includes crypto parts. So as far as we know, the only thing AMD didn't essentially design was the crypto part, and that's the area where the chip sits at # 1. This is totally unexpected.

The Hygon C86 processor is based on Dhyana's x86 IP (Zen 1) and is being recognized as a Sugon server rack (which is the company that packages and sells these in the Chinese market). The processor itself is a 32-core (64-wire) EPYC (Gen 1) clone and appears to be running at 2 GHz (which is probably the base clock). The total available encryption bandwidth is 101.44 GB / s, which is a world-class score.

Unfortunately, however, AMD will not be liable for a product that is technically another company's, and since these are essentially Chinese companies that primarily serve the local market, communication with them is very difficult. Considering that GloFo has stopped manufacturing these processors and that Chinese factories do not have the capacity to manufacture them (in any case, not very soon), the existence of this processor seems more like an anecdote. We will keep you informed.
