"I'm a mac": almost 300 ads, but steve jobs rejected most of them

Do you remember Apple's “I'm a Mac / I´ma PC” series of commercials? These ads were tremendously popular during their broadcast between 2006 and 2009. Now, a decade after the last one was broadcast, Justin Long, who played the user of Mac computers, has told some of the aspects about his experience in one of Apple's most iconic ad campaigns.
Steve Jobs rejected the funniest ads
For three years Justin Long played the role of the "modern" Mac user versus John Hodgman, the "nerd" of PCs. Now, the first of them has shared some interesting anecdotes about his experience that we have been able to read in Entertainment Weekly .
For example, Long says he recorded "almost 300" Apple ads, but only 66 of them were aired. According to the actor, over time he realized that the funniest rarely passed the final screen. And it seems that Steve Jobs rejected the funniest ads for fear of distracting attention from Apple products.
One of the ads that did not get to be broadcast was the one starring Zach Galifianakis, who according to Long played "a drunk Santa Claus":
"One in particular, I remember, Zach Galifianakis appeared like a drunk Santa Claus, " recalls Long. "And he said basically that Steve Jobs preferred when they weren't super funny… because he thought it would detract from the point of the ad. He thought that if people were too focused on humor, they would lose sight of the product."
Following his stint in the Mac vs. PC ads, Justin Long has starred in a recent ad for Huawei. If you wish, you can see the full interview here.
