That's right friends, CES 2019 has been the stage in which IBM has presented Q System Pro, the first fully integrated commercial quantum computer. It has not given details of the benefits or Qbits that its core has, but it is a system that is fully functional and ready to be used outside of laboratory environments.

IMB Q System Pro is the first "pocket" quantum computer in history

IBM shows us its power in quantum technology in which it already has a long journey, launching the first commercial computer that implements this particular technology.

Some time ago we produced a complete article explaining, as far as possible and in an understandable way, what a quantum processor consists of, as well as its characteristics and operation. In addition, we questioned the possibility of being able to launch a computer with this technology on the market without being restricted to a laboratory with ideal conditions.

Nothing is further from reality here it is, a few months after questioning it, IBM surprises us with IBM Q System Pro, which will be the first commercial quantum technology computer in history, and the scenario has been nothing less than CES 2019 to punch on the table.

Of course, this computer is not exactly pocket-sized, due to the particular characteristics that the environment in which the Qbits that give life to the processing core must be encapsulated. We must know that a quantum computer needs a cryogenic environment and totally isolated from the outside world so that Qbits do not lose their quantum processing properties.

The most complex fish tank ever created

The Q System Pro are installed in an airtight environment built on an aluminum and steel frame 2.74 meters high and wide, and isolated from the outside by borosilicate glass. Inside, a cryogenic cooling system contains these Qbits totally isolated, of which we do not know a specific number, so that they are not interfered with by electromagnetic waves, noise, vibrations or absolutely nothing. In addition, this giant fish tank will also be responsible for isolating the cryostat, and the electronics and outer casing of the quantum system.

But of course, at some point we will have to perform maintenance on this quantum computer. Well, this is also studied, since the Q System Pro has a system powered by a motor that can depressurize the compartment to work within the team keeping Qbits safe.

IBM has not provided information on whether we can install RGB gaming lighting or put a wallpaper on it, surely not, unfortunately.

In addition, the company has reported that it will open a Q Quantum computing center later this year in Poughkeepsie, New York, which will allow kids on the IBM Q Network to access the world's most advanced cloud-based quantum systems.

We take the opportunity to provide the link to your website where we can interact with your quantum computer, which has been with us for a long time. About the availability of this computer and the price, nothing is known at the moment, but we would bet that it will not be cheap. Most important of all, quantum technology is advancing, and this is the first step in getting independent and smaller and more accessible teams. Trust that these dimensions will soon shrink, the beginnings are always difficult.

Are you planning to buy one of these to play Fortnite ? Write us and what do you expect from quantum technology in our time.
