Intel amber lake, new very low-power processors

Intel Amber Lake sounds like a new generation of very low power processors from Intel. These new chips will come under the Y series, as well as based on the semiconductor giant's 14nm Tri-Gate manufacturing process.

For now, there are three Intel Amber Lake processors, all with a configuration of two physical cores and a TDP of just 5W, something that would put them quite close to the energy efficiency that the most powerful ARM processors are capable of achieving. These processors will reach quite low frequencies, although they will have a turbo mode so that they offer good overall performance.

The exceptional balance between performance and power consumption of these processors will make them ideal for use in ultra laptops, tablets, two-in-one computers and other very compact devices, where energy efficiency is essential. Its arrival on the market could take place later this year.
