Intel cannonlake will arrive in 2017 manufactured at 10nm

Anonim

For years Intel has used a Tick-Tock strategy consisting of a two-year cycle, in which the microarchitecture of its processors was changed in one year and the manufacturing process of less nm was changed the other year, something more and more difficult to maintain. Given this situation, the Tick-Tock cycle has been extended to three years and the next nm reduction will come in 2017 with Intel Cannonlake.

Intel Cannonlake was scheduled for 2016 but delays in the development of the company's 10nm Tri-Gate manufacturing process has caused its delay until 2017. In 2018 we will have new 10nm chips called Icelake and in 2019 we will see the third generation at 10nm, Tigerlake.

Regarding developments in the 14nm, it is confirmed once again that we will see a third generation of chips at 14nm in 2016, the Intel Kaby Lake. Already in 2019 the first chips will arrive at 5nm from Intel.
