Intel core i3-8310u 'kaby lake

The introduction of the quad-core Core i7 and Core i5 processor models from the Kaby Lake-R family was just the beginning for Intel, which also wants to have lower-end options with its i3-8310U laptop CPU.

First details of i3-8310U revealed

The i3-8310U being a dual core processor with Hyperthreading technology enabled, its clock speeds should be able to deliver improved performance over its predecessor the 7310U.

Intel Core i3-8310U specifications reveal that the processor has a lower base frequency than the previous CPU, but a higher 4MB cache and outstanding Turbo speeds.

Data taken from Laptop Media shows that Intel's new chip should be a good match against Ryzen's 'U' series. The chip is expected to be used in countless ultra-laptops, hybrids, and other compact computers thanks to its low power consumption.

To start with the specs, the i3-8310U features a total of 2 cores operating at a base clock speed of 2.20 GHz. This would be below the base clock of the i3-7310U, but it surpasses it in 'turbo' speed, where it reaches a frequency of 3.40GHz, which is an impressive figure. Everything will depend on the manufacturers to be able to dissipate the heat generated at this speed, so that i3-8310U can maintain this speed most of the time.

The TDP is in the 10-15W range, which is within reason for a laptop.
