Two images of the Core i9-10900K and Intel's Core i7-10700K have just appeared on Chinese social media. Also, we have a first look at the LGA 1200 format.

Intel Core i9-10900K & i7-10700K, engineering samples appear

These images show two chips with the "Intel Confidential" seal. This indicates that we are in the presence of engineering samples. The image behind the processor shows the use of a new LGA format, probably the LGA 1200 so mentioned in previous opportunities.

Assuming these images are real, these two references are part of Intel's next line of 14nm processors, Comet Lake-S. The first, the Core i9-10900K, is equipped with 10 physical and 20 logical cores and a 20MB L3 cache. The set should be capable of 5.10 GHz in single-core mode and 4.80 GHz in all-core mode.

The Core i7-10700K processor is a bit more modest and comes with 8 physical cores coupled to Hyper-Threading technology, i.e. 16 logical cores. Its frequency is 5 GHz in single-core boost mode and 4.5 GHz in all-core mode.

Intel plans to increase all of its offerings to better compete with the AMD Ryzen 3000. The Core i5 family will benefit from 6-core, 12-wire solutions. Finally, the Core i3 family will be based on 4 cores and 8 threads.

Leaks continue to occur with Comet Lake, evidencing an impending launch. We will keep you informed.
