Traditionally Intel has not released many desktop processors with its more powerful graphics processors, however, it has already announced three new Skylake desktop processors that will include the powerful Intel Iris Pro 580 GPU.

Intel Iris Pro 580 brings its power to desktops

The evolution of the Iris Pro 6200 used in Broadwell is the Iris Pro 580 used in Skylake and it seems that we will not see many desktop models that include it either. This GPU for now has only been used in the Core i7-6770HQ but Intel has already announced three new Skylake desktop processors that will include it, these are the Core i7-6785R, i5-6685R and i5-6585R. These three processors will have a TDP of 65W and will come in a BGA format so they will be soldered to the board and therefore we will not be able to update them in the future.

The Core i7-6785R is a quad- core processor with HT at a base frequency of 3.3 GHz that goes up to 3.9 GHz in turbo mode. On the other hand, we have the Core i5-6685R and i5-6585R that are made up of four cores without HT at frequencies of 3.2 / 3.8 GHz and 2.8 / 3.6 GHz respectively. They all have the 1, 150 MHz Intel Iris Pro 580 GPU on the Core i7 and 1, 100 MHz on the Core i5.

The Intel Iris Pro 580 is made up of 72 EUs together with a 128 MB eDRAM cache to offer very respectable performance and at the height of graphics cards such as a GTX 750 and even slightly above. These new processors are designed for AIO equipment, mini PCs and others similar in which there is no space for the installation of a dedicated graphics card so we can only resort to the GPU integrated in the processor.
